Happy Birthday Rachel!

This weekend, we celebrated the birthday of our dear friend, Rachel D aka the beautiful gal behind the blog Love As A Verb.

The night began with Jay (Rachel's hubby) organizing a small group of friends having dinner at the Harbord House. The space was beautiful, the food was tasty and the company was ah-mazing. What's so fab about Rachel is that she loves bringing people together! She has some pretty amazing friends and I was lucky enough to meet a few of them over dinner.

At dinner, Jay mentioned that he made some desserts for when we move the party back to their place. When he started describing all the scrumptious things he made, we all wanted to skip dinner and go straight to dessert...and with reason!

I mean, check it out...is your mouth watering yet!?

Red Velvet Cupcakes!

I don't even know how to describe this, but it was a HIT!
Although we celebrated this weekend, it's Rachel's birthday today. Rachel, these 2girls would like to wish you a very happy birthday, filled with joy, laughter and love.

And on a personal note, I'd like to say that I am so happy to have you in my life! Your positive energy and open heart inspire me all the time.

Happy Birthday Rachel!!

Happiest of birthdays!

Saturday Meet Up.

Yesterday, Melissa and I went to our very first blogger meet up.  It all started because our lovely friend Rachel (Love as a Verb) wanted to add us all to her blog roll.  After a few Facebook conversations and some planning by all, we spent a lovely Saturday afternoon at Terroni on Queen St.

All the ladies were so lovely and what was incredible is that none of us talked about blogging or work (well not too much).  We just chatted the afternoon away getting to know each other.  It was such a delight.

There are so many things that I took away from that lunch but a few things that stood out for me about each of the lovely ladies in attendance were:

Alicia - respect yourself and make smart choices to be a better woman
Christine - seek advice of those around you and cherish their opinions
Meg - find your life's passion and go for it
Melissa - it's never too late to make changes in your life, now is the time
Sarah - be open to new possibilities like making friends
Rachel - bring the people in your life together

A very inspiring group of women!

I hope that we get to meet up with each other again soon.

xo,
Noor

Spring Forward!

Hello hello!

Daylight Savings Time is upon us, and we've had to "spring forward" today.  If you haven't already, please change your clocks to an hour earlier or else you'll be late for all of your work and appointments tomorrow!

Although we have lost an hour of time, it's totally worth it with the extra sunlight we'll be getting in the afternoons.  With all the sunlight, compounded by the amazingly gorgeous weather we've had today, it's a sure sign that spring is on it's way!  I absolutely cannot wait until we can break out our flip flips and shorts, and hit the patios.  In fact, I'm sure there are some Torontonians out there who have already dusted off their summer gear and are rocking them out and about today.

It's approximately 16 degrees/60 degrees in Toronto today, so what are y'all doing to take advantage of the weather on this beautiful day in the city?

Tupperware bonanza!

Earlier this weekend, Noor and I had the pleasure of attending our very first Tupperware party hosted by our dear friend Cynthia.  What's funny is that when we told people that we'd be attending this type of party, it was met with mixed reactions.  Some commented that it was a sign of growing old that we were going to a Tupperware party, while others asked if it was for real or if  'Tupperware' was code for another cool party.   Understanding that it's 2012, Tupperware parties sound like such a throw back to old times, but you can't deny they also seem so cool and retro.  Plus, who doesn't want cool Tupperware items?

All I know, is that when I was a child growing up in Atlanta, my mom used to frequent these parties, and would always come back with the most amazing items like little mini Tupperware key chains or holders for my lunch that were cool shapes and sizes.  So the nostalgia factor was big for me, and I could not wait to go to my first Tupperware party as an adult.

When we arrived at Cynthia's, we were met with the cutest set up of food and refreshments ever!

Cynthia's sister Amy demonstrated all of the different items to us, and we played some fun games to get to know each other.  I was completely sold on some of the coolest things like the can opener that left no sharp edges or the fridge boxes that keep your veggies fresh for weeks.

After the demos, we all mixed and mingled, enjoying lots of delicious wine and cheese apps.  We also all walked away with some great new purchases, but also the fun gift bags including the coolest orange peeler ever (which my mom also has from back in the day).

All in all, a super successful inaugural Tupperware party.  Can't wait to go to a few more!
